Welcome to the Meonshore Studios Blog

Hi my name is Mike French, and I'm a Fareham - Hampshire based photographer, and the owner of Meonshore Studios, a family run business. I'm passionate about my photography, and running the studio and I like to think this shows in the way I interact with my clients and of course in the images I create.

I adore shooting fine art newborn portraits, capturing little babies for their first professional photograph. I also love creating portraits showing families growing together and the creative but critical commercial work. For personal work I shoot sport, and wildlife predominately

Meonshore Studios

Meonshore Studios is based in Fareham, Hampshire and covers clients all over the UK and beyond. We specialize in fine art newborn portraits of babies between 3 and 15 days of age, and location family portraits. These are most likely to be taken in Hampshire in the studio or on location and of course we travel anywhere for our commercial clients.

This blog is the diary of the studio and contains a mixture of the work that we do - we have dedicated websites for our different types of photography.

Powdermills Hotel, Battle for the pre-wedding shoot of Helen and Graham

Powdermills Hotel in Battle was the venue for Wednesdays pre-wedding shoot. Helen and Graham are holding their wedding reception at this lovely hotel in the countryside just outside of Battle in East Sussex. This wedding is a third generation referral as I have photographed the weddings of two of Graham’s work colleagues the first back in 2007, and then another in 2008.

But back to the pre-wedding shoot which took place on a warm and sunny day. After a short walk around the venue we found some of the feature locations at the Powdermills Hotel, working in open shade as usual for soft light and also with some lovely directional lighting in and around the terrace.

I’m really pleased with the images I made for Helen and Graham, who both relaxed into the shoot very quickly and it really shows in the photographs.
