We visited a local pre-school to take their pre-christmas portraits for what must be the 4th year now. Most of the children we took photographs of that first year are now school age and I’m photographing their younger brothers and sisters or new intake of parents who have never used us for photography before.
As is usual for this session we worked on a white backdrop giving clean images of the children, which works well for these mini-sessions and also for unpredictable toddlers !
Many of the framed prints, canvas wraps and gift prints ordered from this session end up being wrapped as presents for grand-parents, or decorate the houses of the proud parents. We have a lot more kids portrait sessions booked over the next few weeks so expect to see a few blog entries on the run up to Christmas.
Here are a small selection of images from the day, all of which have parental approval to be shown on the blog and the website. As you can see I have selected intrigue, and bemusement for these expressions – I really think you get a lot more of the real character of a child in a photograph when they don’t have a forced smile.
