Gate Street Barn Wedding Photographs: Katy and Rob

On Sunday I made the short journey across into Surrey for the Gate Street Barn wedding of Katy and Rob. Having done some pre-wedding photography with them back in July we were all hoping for a lovely day to make the most of the great wedding venue, and of course this great couples wedding day.

I arrived at the venue just before mid-day and had a quick look around catching up with the venue staff, Carrie from Topiary Tree who was the florist for the day, Kalm Kitchen owner Jen, and Chris from Chess Disco before walking through the venue and getting all those little detail images and the big views of the barn which will make important linking images for the wedding album.

Establishing shots completed I spent some time with Katy, the bride, and her mum and bridesmaids for some preparation as well as photographing the dress and Katy’s amazing purple shoes ! and then on to find Rob and his bestman Mark who was greeting the guests arriving in the warm sunshine.

The day was so emotional that the registrar was handing out tissues even before Katy made it into the room, and afterwards everyone spilled out into the courtyard for champagne and canapes while I got some lovely documentary images, and then a short list of the family groups Katy and Rob had requested, before heading back into the barn to document the room, table details and to place my personalised gallery access cards on the tables as agreed with Katy and Rob – allowing the guests to view them online in a couple of weeks time.

Speeches came next, managed by Mark who used one of the chairs to propel himself upward and get everyones attention. Something he did whilst delivering his speech – a first for me, but a great opportunity to get a shot of the purple Converse All*Stars the groom and bestman wore to compliment the theme for the day. Once the speeches were complete I slipped back out to eat my delicious lunch (see here) and let the wedding party eat in peace.

With the light fading I managed to sneak Katy and Rob away for some relaxed portraits of them alone using the lovely gardens at the Gate Street Barn and some of the features, and then after the cutting of the (Cheese) cake we headed in for the first dance after which I said my goodbyes and returned back to the studio.

Here are some of the images from the day.
