St Matthews Otterbourne and The Potters Heron: Kirsty & Marco’s wedding

Yesterday I was at the majestic St Matthew’s church in Otterbourne, Hampshire for the wedding of Kirsty and Marco, which was followed by a reception at The Potters Heron in Ampfield.

Great weather on this Saturday for the second year running meant that there was little to worry about on this special day and Kirsty and her mum and dad were very chilled out during my time photographing Kirsty’s bridal preparations. With some hair and makeup done, and the shoes, dress and jewellery photographed I had chance to chat to Kirsty’s dad and brother and his girlfriend Ellie while Kirsty put her stunning dress on. I arrived back up stairs on cue to get the last few buttons being fastened and then it was off to meet the guys at the church and get my instructions from the vicar on positioning for the service.

I covered the main part of the marriage ceremony from next to the organist, across the choir’s stalls but this enabled me to get a great view of Kirsty and Marco as they took their vows. However, after the first kiss I dropped out through the vestry and back along the side of the church during a hymn to get some dramatic images from the rear of the church before covering the signing.

After some informal images as the happy couple left the church, and a confetti tunnel I left the church for the Potters Heron a short distance away. I quickly photographed the room and cake, and then worked through the formal images and family groups before taking Kirsty and Marco off for 5 minutes for some more contemporary wedding images and then left them to enjoy some time with their guests. A line up and speeches took place before the wedding breakfast and then I managed to get a break to re-hydrate, eat and have a look at the images I had captured.

Just before the evening reception started Kirsty and Marco wanted to grab another 10 minutes with me to take advantage of some of the modern decor in the bar/restaurant area of the Potters Heron and we made some really nice images in the subdued lighting before returning for their first dance.

Having already made a first edit on their wedding photos here are some of my favourite images from the day. The full online gallery will be uploaded by the 8th August, password as on your cards from the wedding, or ask Kirsty and Marco.
