Here is the second installment of our pet photography day down in Somerset. Having travelled down from Hampshire yesterday to see Amber and her owners it seemed crazy not to combine their dog photographic session with a second and so we went on and spent some time with Amber’s family and their owners for some outdoor portraits and some agility work.
Now these are no ordinary English spaniels they come from a pedigree breeding line and come from a Crufts winning breeder. Cloe is a Manchela and her daughters and grandaughters are Tamarino’s. These are amazing agility dogs, and having already covered a fair few square feet with rosettes in the first six months of the year Charlie also picked up a first place today, all that practice in-front of the camera must have paid off !
Having spent some time again talking with the owners and allowing the dogs to get used to me we started with some agility to get the dogs in action. Obviously they love this, and it gave them time to get used to me with the camera before we did any more sedate portraits. Incredibly fast over the jumps and through the tunnel I found I got the best expressions in the weave in this session as you can see in one of the sample images.
After some food these energetic spaniels calmed down a bit and I then set about getting some individual portraits as well as some groups with the goal being all five together – ideally looking at the camera. Working closely with the owners we achieved this and much more and I’m really pleased with the results.
