Today I photographed a lovely family on the beach at Hill Head near Fareham in Hampshire. Lucky winners of the location portrait session voucher we donated to the Cancer Research raffle at a charity ball in February (at which we were the official event photographers) they travelled up from Winchester and spent just over an hour playing on the beach as the tide went out allowing me to capture some natural moments as well as some portraits of them all, and together.
Unlike a studio portrait session the location session allows me to get to know the family and then drop into documentary mode as they enjoy themselves and by the time we get to some more directed and posed portraits I’m known and accepted.
